Starwood Security Council visit Oslo...

The Starwood Security Council's fourth meeting was recently held in Norway - the home of VingCard and Elsafe.

From May 22nd to May 24th, the Starwood Security Council (SSC) members and employees from VingCard and Elsafe Headquarters, experienced action from go-carting to sailing aboard ASSA ABLOY's VO60 "twin" sail boat for the Volvo Ocean Race 2001-2002. But, it was also a valuable occasion to share ideas and visions in order to reach our common goal: “Top security for hotel guests”.

Starwood is one of the world’s largest hotel and leisure companies. The Company conducts its hotel and leisure business both directly and through its subsidiaries. The Company’s brand names include Sheraton, Westin, The Luxury Collection, St. Regis, W and Four Points by Sheraton. Through these brands, Starwood is well represented in most major markets around the world. The security council is a selection of employees around the world who’s responsibilities are to maintain high security and safety for their guests, as well as the hotels.

When the SSC arrived Wednesday 22nd, they went go-carting at a local go-cart track in Oslo city before having dinner. This was the start of three memorable and enjoyable days.

Meetings and presentations were held during the day for the purpose of sharing experiences and ideas among the participants present in order to find out where to go next towards our common goal.

On Thursday evening we went fishing in the Oslo fjord, with a traditional Norwegian salmon dinner to follow. After dinner, the SSC members took the opportunity to catch cod and most of them were lucky and caught some.

On the following Friday, we took the SSC out for sailing with the ASSA ABLOY VO60 "twin" boat in the Oslo fjord and it was an event none of us will forget. All though it was cloudy and rainy, it was forgotten as we were all busy steering, trimming and pulling ropes.

When the Starwood Security Council meeting ended Friday evening, we were all satisfied with the valuable communication achieved as well as the memories and the learning about ASSA ABLOY being enhanced.
