The VingCard France Team visits La Rochelle, France

The ASSA ABLOY Racing team finished as number 2 in the 7th leg of the Volvo Ocean Race, after the overall leader Illbruck Challenge.

The VingCard France Team visited La Rochelle the weekend of May 19th to 20th, showing their support to the team in the round the world race. After a 3 hour TGV train travel (with lunch on board!), all participants visited the ASSA ABLOY village and took part in various activities. We could mention the female performance of the day; Nadine (saleswoman) lifting and holding a 65kg padlock and Florent-Nel with the team record of winching up the 70 kg dummy up a mast.

After a group photo in front of the ASSA ABLOY boat and an interview of Magnus Olsson, everybody visited the magnificent aquarium in La Rochelle. The day was concluded by a seafood dinner at very popular "Restaurant-Bar André". On Sunday morning a guided tour of La Rochelle downtown was followed by a lunch at "La Marée" and some free time for everybody to discover the harbour and pay a new visit to the ASSA ABLOY village.

The happy group left La Rochelle on Sunday, satisfied with the outcome of the weekend. Everybody enjoyed themselves and appreciated the fabulous opportunity to support the ASSA ABLOY Racing Team, meeting the crew as well as other colleagues within the group.

The 8th leg started Sunday the 19th of May, heading for Gothenburg, Sweden were the ASSA ABLOY Racing Team won at 00:06 Thursday the 23rd of May. The reception could hardly have been more impressive than the one the fleet got upon arrival in Gothenburg the night between Wednesday and Thursday last week. Hundreds of boat lanterns lit up the harbour together with fountains ans fire-works.

The VingCard Group wishes the ASSA ABLOY Racing Team the best of luck on the 9th and final leg from Gothenburg, Sweden to Kiel Germany on Saturday the 8th of June.
