Signature RFID by VingCard Locks Up the Five-Star Grand Millennium Sukhumvit

SINGAPORE – September 30, 2009 – VingCard, a leading hospitality security provider and part of the ASSA ABLOY Hospitality Group, completed the installation of its Signature RFID contactless electronic door locks with NFC cell phone compatibility at Grand Millennium Sukhumvit in Bangkok, Thailand. As the commercial center of Thailand, Bangkok serves as the major business hub in Southeast Asia. With the security provisions offered by VingCard’s Signature RFID, Grand Millennium Sukhumvit is geared to meet the sophisticated needs and requirements of business travellers. The luxurious five-star hotel property sits within a three minute walk from the Asok Skytrain and Sukhumvit subway stations, and is within easy access to Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre and major shopping areas. Its central location demands for the highest in security standards to protect its elite, international guests.

“The hotel’s prime central location is a draw for both business and leisure travellers,” said Mr Tang Kwok Seng, Group Director of Engineering, Millennium & Copthorne International. “We needed locks with the strength and efficiency to keep up with the demands of the property, and Signature RFID presented our hotel with the perfect solution.”

Signature RFID contactless electronic door locks offer highly reliable security features and provide unprecedented convenience and ease-of-operation for hoteliers and hotel guests alike. The Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) locks allow for contactless guest room entry and are compatible with nextgeneration NFC cell phones.

“By using Signature RFID, we are able to track events around the property with more efficiency than ever before,” said Mr Tang. “The ability to receive important information from each keycard has not only increased the productivity and efficiency of our staff, but it keeps our guests very happy as our staff is able to respond almost instantly to guest requests.”

Grand Millennium Sukhumvit will be fully equipped to provide user-friendly and intuitive guest interaction, including NFC cell phone compatibility, while decreasing the overall workload of the hotel’s management and staff. Signature RFID also provides unmatched control and security – with a 600 event audit trail and innovative anti-cloning software – creating a sense of ease for hoteliers according to Vegard Prytz, vice president of ASSA ABLOY Hospitality Asia-Pacific.

“Grand Millennium Sukhumvit needs a unique solution to provide the ultimate in security, unmatched ease-of-use and the level of design its guests and hoteliers have come to expect,” said Prytz. “By choosing VingCard, the property can rest assured that they have the highest level of security available today.”

Additionally, Signature RFID locks offer Grand Millennium Sukhumvit the opportunity to go “green”. The energy-efficient locks require fewer battery changes than traditional electronic locks, meaning less waste (not to mention lower battery costs) for the hotelier. Signature RFID’s sealed hardware design also means less maintenance because the mechanism does not require cleaning.

Signature RFID is a secure open-platform system compatible with the three leading RFID ISO standards (ISO 14443A/MiFare, ISO 14443B, ISO 15693) and the new NFC transaction platform for cell phones. By installing Signature RFID locks, the (property name) will be ready to offer remote check-in to guests with NFC-compatible cell phones. After making a reservation but prior to arrival at the hotel, guests will receive a booking confirmation number, room number and encrypted room key access code through an encrypted Short Message System (SMS) to their NFC-enabled cell phone, allowing them to bypass the check-in line upon arrival and go straight to the room, where their NFC-enabled cell phones will unlock the guestroom door.
