Spain’s Porta Fira Hotel Selects VingCard Elsafe for Its Cutting-Edge Technology and Sleek Design

PARIS 7/Feb 2011 – VingCard Elsafe, a leading hospitality security provider and part of the ASSA ABLOY Group, recently completed the installation of its Signature electronic door locks and Sentinel II by Elsafe in-room safes at the Porta Fira Hotel in Barcelona, Spain. Located in Hospitalet de Llobregat in the city of Barcelona, the 320-room hotel property is in front of the Fira 2 with easy access to downtown Barcelona and Barcelona Airport. The modern, award-winning architectural structure was the vision of Japanese designer Toyo Ito, famous for designs internationally. This recently completed hotel features a unique combination of urban appeal with contemporary charm, making it an ideal destination for the experienced luxury traveler.

“With an exterior featuring unique, contemporary edges, the interior needed a reliable security system with the same cutting-edge design,” said Oscar Bermejo, General Manager of the Porta Fira Hotel. “As a hotel property that hosts guests from around the world, Signature by VingCard offers us a unique appeal with the perfect combination of unique design and unmatched security.”

Signature electronic door locks offer highly reliable security features and provide unprecedented convenience and ease-of-operation for hoteliers and hotel guests alike. The magnetic stripe reader reads on both insert and removal for optimal accuracy, and the lock uses a powerful 600-event audit trail for optimal security. With the panic release function and reprogrammable FLASH RAM lock memory, the lock provides the ultimate security for guests.

“Our guests are protected with the highest level of security that still offers the convenience and ease-of-use they require in a hotel,” said Bermejo. “With the lock’s adaptable features and flawless design, our staff can maintain total control of the property at all times, with a sleek, user-friendly presentation that simply adds to the charm of the property.”

Signature provides unmatched adaptability and integration – with various designer handles, alternative bezel designs and a wide range of finishes – creating a sense of ease and exclusivity for hoteliers according to Christian Hénon, president of ASSA ABLOY Hospitality Europe/Middle East/Africa.

“Porta Fira wanted a reliable security system that matched the unique design of the property,” said Hénon. “Signature by VingCard delivers the right combination of design and security, allowing guests to enjoy the atmosphere of the hotel without worrying about the security of their belongings.”

To complement Signature electronic locks, The Porta Fira Hotel selected state-of-the-art SENTINEL II by Elsafe UL-listed safes, which employ the latest locking technology, including a hook-style interlocking system and an anti-tamper labyrinth mechanism that avoids reaching the electronics and a solid piece of cold-pressed curved steel door that provides additional strength with extended solid steel hinges permanently arc-welded to the door. The safe is perfect for protecting guests’ valuables, and the attractive, adaptable design makes it perfect for blending into any hotel environment, according to Hénon.

“Integrating SENTINEL II safes into any hotel environment is easy, due to its adaptable design and easy-to-use technology,” said Hénon. “By combining the top-of-the-line security systems, Signature and SENTINEL II, the staff can rest easy knowing they are in control and their guests are safe.”
